Manually Configure MS Office OutlookŪ for IMAP E-mail Access.

Suppose you want to configure E-mail address: arun@mphatic.net (Email User: Arun, Organisation: Mphatic Consulting)
in Microsoft OutlookŪ, then you need to take the following steps.

1. Connect to the Internet and then launch Office Outlook.

2. If you are using Office Outlook for the First Time, you will be greeted with the screen shown below. If not then skip to step 6.



3. Click Next



4. Select Do not upgrade



5. Select Yes. Now go to step 8.

 
6. Go to Tools > Account Settings... as shown below.





7. Click New... Now follow step 8.
 




8. Select Internet E-mail



9. Select Manually configure server settings or additional server types and then Click Next.



10. Type the Email User Display Name name beside Your Name (Arun)

11. Type the full new E-mail address beside E-mail Address (arun@mphatic.net)

12. Select the Account Type as IMAP

13. Enter the Incoming mail server (mail.mphatic.net). (A person who wants to configure peter@abconline.com will enter mail.abconline.com)

14. Enter the Outgoing mail server (SMTP) (mail.mphatic.net). (A person who wants to configure peter@abconline.com will enter mail.abconline.com)

15. Fill the User Name with complete E-mail Address. (arun@mphatic.net)

16. Enter the password which you have got / changed in the Webmail in the Password field.

17. Ensure that the Remember password is ticked if you don't want to enter the password each time you use Office Outlook.

18. Click on More Settings...



19. In the General tab, you can give the account any name like the E-mail Address itself (arun@mphatic.net) or Your Name (Arun) or Any Other Name such as Work, Office, etc.

20. Enter your Organization name. (Mphatic Consulting)

21. Enter Reply E-mail if it is something different than the E-mail Address you are configuring Outlook for. (support@mphatic.net). This comes into play when your E-mail receiver hits the reply button of the email. It is then that this E-mail Address shows up in the To address box.



22. Select the Outgoing server tab.

23. Select the option My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication

24. Ensure that Use same settings as my incoming mail server is selected.

25. Click OK



26. Click on Test Account Settings... You will get the prompt as shown below. Let the Test Complete.



27. If you get Errors as shown below, then follow the steps 28 & 29 else skip to step 30.



 
28. Then go to Advanced tab and change Outgoing server (SMTP) from 25 to 26 as shown below and click OK.



29. Click again on Test Account Settings... This time it should show success if all the parameters entered uptill now are correct. Now follow step 30.

 


30. Click Next on the Add New E-mail Account form.



31. Click Finish. You IMAP E-mail Account has been set.
